Know Before You Go

Entry and Services:

A paying adult must accompany children aged 3-12.
The experience includes a pre-flight briefing from your pilot, shuttle transport to and from the launch and landing sites, and an average flight time of 45 minutes.
Individuals with significant knee, hip, or back problems must consult the pilot before the flight.

What to bring:

Camera.
Bring a hat (the burner can throw out a lot of heat).

What to wear:

Casual clothing.
Closed-toe shoes are suggested.
Jumper or jacket.

Hotel Pick-Up Information:

Shared transfers may be slightly early or late.
Enter your hotel details at checkout to confirm eligibility.
Pick-up is 15–45 minutes before meet-up time, depending on location.
Most Gold Coast hotels are covered. If staying south of Broadbeach or north of Labrador, meet at Mercure Gold Coast Resort, Carrara, or another main hotel in the transfer zone.

If staying in Coolangatta, Mermaid Beach, or Burleigh Heads, you may arrange to meet in Broadbeach—confirm exact location and time with the operator.
The bus departs from The Star Casino car park (safe and well lit) and returns around 10:00 AM.
Parking: Available in the underground garage (fees apply). Wait in the reception lounge until the operator bus arrives.

How long is the flight?

The actual balloon ride lasts about 40–60 minutes, but the full experience (including transfers, setup, and breakfast) can take 3–4 hours.
Is it safe?

Yes, hot air ballooning is one of the safest forms of aviation in Australia. All operators are licensed under CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority), and flights are weather-dependent.
What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are recommended. A hat and light jacket are useful since mornings can be cool. Avoid high heels or skirts.
What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety comes first—if weather conditions aren’t suitable, the flight will be rescheduled or refunded.
Is there any fitness requirements for Hot Air Ballooning?

It is a safety requirement for Hot Air that all of our travellers are able to walk from the bus across to the balloon basket, board the basket via two foot holes (1.2m in height) and stand for the duration of the flight all unassisted.
Where can I park if I’m self-driving to my Gold Coast balloon flight?

Free parking is available at our self-drive meeting points: Canungra Visitor Centre or Nerang Fair Shopping Centre (Coles end near 7-Eleven). Meeting times vary by season, so please confirm in advance. If you’re worried about missing pickup, call 07 4039 9900 between 3:30–5:30 AM to reach a driver, or contact our reservations team during office hours.
