“Al Wasl” means ‘connection’ in Arabic, no wonder the visual marvel has derived its name from it. Fun fact: ‘Al Wasl’ is the historical name of Dubai.

The Al Wasl Plaza is more than just another place for your visit. It connects to the idea of the World Expo with the three Thematic Districts: Sustainability, Mobility, and Opportunity. Al Wasl Plaza will continue to provide entertainment to you and every other visitor even after the six-month run of the exposition. It will transition into a linking hub for neighboring hotels and offices.

It took more than 800 engineers and technicians about 14 months to finish the Al Wasl Dome. The trellis steelwork is designed by Italian contractors Cimolai Rimond, Adrian Smith, and Gordon Gill Architecture and holds the projection screen securely, where the lattice structure plays a very important part. Rimond weaved the steelwork into the ringed logo of Expo 2020 Dubai.

Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture are responsible for the amazing design of the dome and the Al Wasl Plaza. That includes everything the plaza houses for Expo 2020 Dubai.

With two hundred and fifty-two laser projectors, behind the laser shows that can be viewed within and outside the dome, there must be something special holding it together. The mind and effort behind this visual treat is Christie, the official projection and display partner for Expo 2020.

Who or rather what is Christie? An audio-visual tech giant who has provided more than 650 audiovisual solutions since 2005 for previous World Expos. Well, now we know exactly why Dubai Expo 2020 is bound to be more spectacular than ever.
