Insider Tips

  • Robert Greg Shand is the architect of the Museum. The museum reflects the characteristics of Shand’s architecture in nature.
  • To represent the diverse Indian culture, Greg Shand has developed a Baoli theme for the museum. The Baoli theme does not represent any particular religion or race; instead, it reflects the diverse culture of the Indian subcontinent.
  • The Baoli theme represents the stepped water well used in Indian villages.
  • The design reflects the essence of a glowing lantern in the nights in villages of India. This reflection has made the place a little India for the inhabitants of Singapore.
  • The place represents the custom, traditions, cultures, and heritages of the Indian communities such as the businessman, traders, and artists.
  • For the South Asian communities living in Singapore, this place is a prime attraction for their enthusiasm for Indian culture and tradition.
