Insider Tips

Have Your Voucher Open at the Gate: Your ticket is for the date you choose, and the scan lane keeps moving while the walk-up ticket desk backs up on weekends and school holidays. Have it on screen before the entrance.
Be There for the 9am Opening: Morning feeds happen with the paths empty, and by midday the lions and koalas are mostly asleep, especially in the heat. Head for the big cats first and loop back.
Plan Around the Keeper Talks: Free talks run about every half hour through the morning and thin out after 2pm. Check the day’s schedule at the entrance and set your route by it.
Pack for Full Sun: Paths are open with little tree cover, so bring a hat, sunscreen and a bottle to top up at the free refill points.
Bring Your Own Lunch: Outside food is welcome at the picnic tables, and the cafes open after the gates and can shut by mid afternoon. Buy coffee when you pass it.

Entry and Services:

Re-entry to the venue is permitted. Show your ticket/wristband/stamp upon re-entry at the entrance.
Please be advised that weekends and holidays can be crowded. The operator suggests tourists allow extra time for their visits.
This activity is stroller and wheelchair-accessible.
Last admission: 15:00.
Collect a re-entry pass-out at the entrance or the zoo shop before you leave if you plan to come back the same day.
Strollers, wheelchairs and electric mobility scooters can be hired at the entrance; each requires a refundable deposit and stroller and scooter hire carry a small fee.
Balls, balloons, glitter, confetti and costumes that may startle animals are not permitted inside the zoo.
Free water refill points and misting stations are spread along the paths.

Which zoo is this ticket for?

This ticket is for Sydney Zoo at 700 Great Western Highway, Eastern Creek (Bungarribee) in Western Sydney, about 40 minutes by car from the CBD with free on-site parking. It is not Taronga Zoo in Mosman or WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo at Darling Harbour, so check the address before you travel.
Is it cheaper to buy Sydney Zoo tickets online or at the gate?

Online. Sydney Zoo charges a higher price at the gate than for tickets booked in advance, and walk-up buyers join the ticket desk queue on busy days. Booking here locks in the online rate and lets you go straight to the scan lane with your mobile voucher.
Do children need a ticket for Sydney Zoo?

Children under 3 enter free and do not need a ticket or booking. A child ticket covers ages 3 to 15 and an adult ticket is for ages 16 and over. Prams are welcome and the paths are flat with no steps.
Can I change the date or cancel if the weather turns?

Tickets are valid only for the date you select, so choose carefully. Under the cancellation policy shown on this page you can cancel free of charge with 24 hours’ notice. The zoo opens every day of the year, rain or shine, and most of the site is outdoors, so bring a jacket rather than counting on a closure.
How long does it take to walk around Sydney Zoo?

The zoo recommends allowing at least 2 to 3 hours, and there is no time limit on your ticket within opening hours. The site is flat with no hills or steps, so a full loop is easy with a pram, and a full day is comfortable if you stop for the keeper talks.
Can I bring my own food and drinks into Sydney Zoo?

Yes. Sydney Zoo welcomes your own food and drinks for personal use, and there are picnic tables and shaded seating around the loop. Cafes and kiosks are also on site, with free water refill points along the paths.
Are keeper talks and animal encounters included in the ticket?

Free keeper talks are included and run daily at the habitats, roughly every half hour through the morning. Paid animal encounters such as koala, red panda and lion are separate, sell out early and must be booked directly with Sydney Zoo before your visit. This ticket covers general admission only.
