Insider Tips

Check the Live Webcam First: Cloud can hide the summit view with little warning even on a clear day in the valley below. If your dates are flexible, check the live summit webcam the morning of your visit and pick the clearest window.
Layer Up for Sub-Zero Cold: The summit sits at 3,454 metres with snow and ice year-round. Bring a warm jacket, gloves and sturdy boots, especially for the Ice Palace.
Pace Yourself at the Top: The altitude can leave you briefly short of breath or lightheaded. Move slowly for the first few minutes and take the lift rather than the stairs if you feel it.
Save the Flag Photo for Later: The queue for photos at the summit’s Swiss flag point builds through the morning. See the Sphinx Observatory and Ice Palace first and circle back once it thins out.

You are advised to wear winter gear such as windproof jacket, sunglasses, and covered shoes for walking on snow.
This tour is not recommended for pregnant women from the 7th month of pregnancy and for children under 2 years.
