Check Which Ticket You Hold: The Hagia Sophia gallery ticket and the History Experience Museum ticket are different products, and the museum is a separate building nearby. The booths on the square sell them bundled, so know which one you booked before you queue.
You Visit the Upper Gallery: Tourist entry covers the upper gallery only, up a stone ramp; the ground floor is kept for worshippers. Queues are shortest before 9 AM, and the gallery closes to tourists on Fridays from noon until 2 PM.
Come Covered: Women need a headscarf and everyone needs covered shoulders and knees. The booth sells scarves for a small fee.
Look for the Mosaics: Restoration scaffolding fills part of the dome and nave for now, so the best of the visit is the gallery: the Deesis mosaic, the marble door and the view down the nave.
Bring Earphones: The route uses an augmented reality audio guide on your own phone, in 23 languages. Headphones are sold at the booth.

Do you need tickets for the Hagia Sophia?

Yes. Since 2024 every tourist needs a ticket for the visiting route on the upper gallery; only worshippers enter the ground-floor prayer hall, and that entrance is free. Museum passes are not valid for Hagia Sophia.
Is the Hagia Sophia History Experience Museum the same as Hagia Sophia?

No. The History Experience Museum is a separate building near the square that tells the story of the building with digital exhibits, and it needs its own ticket. This page sells the museum ticket, the Hagia Sophia gallery ticket and combinations of the two, so check the package name before you book.
Do I need to choose a date when I book?

No. This is an open dated ticket, so you pick the day you visit and there is no time slot to select. The ticket cannot be refunded, but it can be used on any day until its expiry date.
