Highlights

265 Acres of Bronx Park: More than 6,000 animals across a zoo laid out as a walk through woodland rather than a row of enclosures, so allow most of a day.
Tiger Mountain and African Plains: Amur tigers at close range, then lions, zebras and the giraffes of the Carter Giraffe Building out on the open plains.
Sea Lion and Penguin Feedings: Keeper-led feedings at the Sea Lion Pool and the Aquatic Bird House run in the afternoon and are included with entry.
Brown Bears and the Himalayan Highlands: A grizzly pond on the way up to the snow leopards and red pandas.
Madagascar! and the Mouse House: Lemurs and crocodiles indoors, and a gallery for the smallest residents that most people walk past.

Insider Tips

Plan Your Route First: With multiple entrances (Asia Gate, Fordham, and Bronx River Gate) and 265 acres to cover, the layout catches first-timers out, so grab a map as you enter and pick a direction.
Wear Comfortable Shoes: Expect a lot of walking across the grounds, so bring water and snacks for a full day out.
