Pick Your Date Carefully: Your ticket is for one fixed date and cannot be moved, so check the forecast first. In a heatwave most animals stay under cover, and heavy rain turns the paths to mud. Book a cool, dry day.
Decide Walk or Drive Before the Gate: Driving in is not included. Car entry is sold only on arrival, for a separate fee, and is the only way through the Asia drive-through. Otherwise park free outside and hail the free hop-on bus.
Load the App in the Car Park: Signage is thin and the paper map is hard to follow. Download the zoo app first and pin the bird show and keeper talks.
Book Hullabazoo the Day Before: The indoor soft play is free with your ticket but pre-book only. Slots open 24 hours ahead, so grab one the evening before.
Eat Before Mid-Afternoon: Food outlets wind down well before the gates close. Bring a picnic and a refillable bottle for the free water stations.

There is no provision for left luggage.
No dogs are allowed on the ZSL Whipsnade Zoo premises.
Bicycles and motorbikes are not allowed.

No adult scooters are allowed.
Last entry is one hour before the zoo closes.
Car entry to drive inside the zoo is paid on arrival at the gate and cannot be pre-booked. Blue Badge holders drive in free.
The free external car park opens at 8am and closes one hour after the zoo closes.
Children’s scooters, balance bikes and bikes with stabilisers are permitted under adult supervision. Electric scooters are not.
Assistance animals are not permitted inside the zoo because of its free-roaming animals.

Is it cheaper to buy Whipsnade Zoo tickets online or on the door?

Online is cheaper. The zoo charges a higher price for the same admission ticket bought at the gate on the day, so booking before you travel locks in the lower rate. Your e-ticket is shown on your phone at the entrance, so there is nothing to collect or exchange.
Can you drive your car around Whipsnade Zoo?

Yes, but car entry is not part of this admission ticket. It is a separate fee paid on arrival at the gate and cannot be pre-booked, and it is the only way to see the Asia drive-through section. If you would rather walk, the external car park is free and a free shuttle bus loops the zoo.
How long does it take to do Whipsnade Zoo?

Allow a full day. The site covers 600 acres, and walking a full loop takes four to six hours before you add the talks, the bird show and the play areas. Arriving after lunch means choosing a section or two rather than seeing the whole zoo.
Do I have to arrive at the time shown on my ticket?

No. Your ticket is valid for the whole of the date you book, so you can enter at any time from opening until last entry. It cannot be moved to another date, but a general admission ticket can be used by someone else if your plans change.
Do children need a ticket for Whipsnade Zoo?

Children under 3 go free and do not need a ticket. Children aged 3 to 15 need a child ticket. The indoor soft play, Hullabazoo, is free with an admission ticket but must be pre-booked, with slots released 24 hours ahead.

Yes, though the site is hilly with long distances between enclosures, so hire and vehicle options matter. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be hired at the entrance for a refundable card deposit, and pre-booking by phone is advised. Can I bring my own food into Whipsnade Zoo?
