Cover Knees and Shoulders: Keep your knees and shoulders covered inside the palace, and avoid beachwear or clingy clothing. Scarves are no longer lent at the entrance, so bring a layer of your own.
Skip the Cloakroom, Not the Car: There is no cloakroom or locker on the palace grounds, so leave bulky bags and extra belongings at home or in the car before you head in.
Keep Your Phone Camera Ready, Politely: Non-commercial photography is welcome in most areas. Ask permission before photographing other people, and follow the signage in the rooms where photography is not allowed.
Ask About the Evening Light Show: The palace facade lights up after dark for the Palace in Motion show. Ask for the current show time at the entrance when you arrive so you can time the rest of your visit around it.

Know Before You Go to The Edinburgh Dungeon

Entry & Services:

The tours last approximately 75 minutes no matter what time you enter. This excludes queuing times which may vary.
Your ticket grants entry to the Edinburgh Dungeon at your selected timeslot.
Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the timeslot shown on your ticket.
Guests aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+.
The experience is not suitable for those nervous or under 12; entry at parent/guardian discretion.
Children aged 4 and under are not allowed.
While most facilities are accessible, the Dungeon, in a listed building, poses restrictions for guests with mobility issues.
Only one wheelchair user is accommodated at a time for safety reasons.
Due to darkness and uneven floors, guests with visual impairments may find navigation challenging.
No designated on-site parking for blue badge holders is available.
Please inform staff of epilepsy concerns before the tour for necessary arrangements.
