The reason behind mud bathing is that mud & sand creates a cooling effect  which is important for the skin which helps it with the sunrays and insects as well. All these activities are created while keeping the elephant's natural behavior in mind.
   

• What type of clothes should I wear to the elephant sanctuary Phuket?

  You should wear loose and comfortable clothes since  you will walk with the elephants in the hot weather. Along with that wear sneakers which will really help in the mud. Keep an extra pair of flip flops for bathing the elephants. Apart from that  we personally suggest that you bring a hat, sunscreen, a bathing suit, a towel and extra clothes since you will   be changing clothes as you will be covered in mud and water
