  • For conservation reasons, heavy jackets, wet clothing, and shawls cannot be worn or carried in the exhibitions.
  • Sweaters and cardigans are allowed but must not touch any exhibits.
  • Pushchairs and mobility aids may damage exhibits.
  • Eating and drinking are prohibited in the exhibition rooms.
  • Smoking is banned in all areas of the museum buildings.
  • Bulky or sharp items (e.g., tripods, umbrellas, or large bags) must be stored in lockers.
  • Apart from trained support dogs, animals are not permitted in the exhibition rooms.
  • The use of laser pointers and selfie sticks is prohibited.
  • No telephone calls may be made or answered in the exhibitions.
  • Only pencils may be used in the exhibitions.
  • Free-standing objects are not to be touched. Leaning on vitrines and walls is prohibited.
  • All visitors are liable for any damages they cause in accordance with legal stipulations.
  • Visitors who deliberately or negligently trigger alarms will be liable for any resulting costs.
  • Parents may not piggy-back their children or carry them on their shoulders.
  • Written permission from the museum management is required for using photos or videos for commercial purposes.
  • The museum management may also impose a general photography ban.

  • Wheelchair accessible.
  • The audio guide is available free of charge.
  • Under-18 get in free, but they must have a ticket.
  • Schoolchildren in supervised groups on educational outings.
  • University / college students in scheduled lecture time accompanied by a lecturer.
  • Individual with a medical certificate or disability pass to assist a disabled person.
  • Guided tours led by external guides are possible for a fee, and the museum has to be notified in advance.
  • Storage for bags, backpacks, and suitcases is limited. Larger items than carry-on luggage cannot be accommodated.
  • Necessary mobility aids may be taken into the exhibitions.
  • Visitors are encouraged to use the buggies, wheelchairs, or aids provided by the museum.
  • Feeding babies is permitted.
  • Any instructions issued by museum staff must be heeded.
  • Until 17.8.2018, the building will only have one functioning lift, with an entrance width of 80cm.
  • Full access for persons with mobility impairment is possible via the service entrance (please ask for porter for assistance).
